Fado Improvável (transl. Unlikely Fado) is an instrumental work that aims to innovate and disclose Portuguese music. Water, in its different forms, is the inspiring element of this work and the hinge point throughout the entire album.
Fado Improvável addresses themes from the traditional Fado songbook of Lisbon and Coimbra, and from some of the most internationally renowned Portuguese artists and groups – Amalia Rodrigues, Dulce Pontes, Madredeus, Moonspell & Quarteto 1111); it also includes an original composition – Fado Improvável.
This work is associated to project “A Violin in the most unlikely places”, whose concept is to play the violin in some of the most challenging environments on the planet in an unlikely fusion of adventure, art & culture.
“A Violin in the most unlikely places” is a unique project that enhances the importance of creativity and differentiation. It is a poetic and inspiring approach that contrasts the fragility of a violin with the hostile scenarios of extreme seas and mountains, metaphorically translating the balance between opposites.
